Best Buy has decided to appeal to technologically savvy people with a new tool called the “Best Buy Remix” on twitter.com
You send a message to their Twitter account with the category of product, the name or sku and if you wish to check store availability you include your zip code. The robot then replies instantly with the item information and the price.
This tool is getting a lot of press for being so innovative and progressive. Here’s a couple of things that are not being mentioned and are essentially being deflected by the publicity surrounding this program:
1) Best Buy is still in litigation with the state of Wisconsin over violation of consumer protection laws.
2) Best Buy is still in litigation with the state of Connecticut over violation of consumer protection laws.
3) Best Buy is still in litigation with the state of Ohio over violation of consumer protection laws.
It doesn’t really matter how they get you the information, it’s still a generally overpriced store. You can just as easily search prices on any number of price comparison services.
Looks like the investors aren’t falling for it either. BBY is hovering around $28 down from a 52-Week high of $49.65.
